This 1940's bungalow has deep and important history as it once served as a Civilian Conservation Corp. cabin. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a voluntary government work relief program that ran from 1933 to 1942 in the United States for unemployed men ages 17-28 and supplied manual labor jobs related to the conservation and development of natural resources. The structure was originally built on Lang Road in Richmond to serve as a CCC cabin where men stayed for months as they clean up after the historic 1938 hurricane. It was sold to a family from Richmond in 1943 and moved to its current location. There are records that show it took a bulldozer, a tow truck and at that time $285 to make the move. Now, today it has renewed life with strong bones and solid history in its timbers which are still visible in the basement.
